Description

The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is a beginner- to intermediate-level qualification exploring wines, suitable for industry professionals and wine enthusiasts.

This course expands on the WSET level 1 curriculum by exploring 36+ wines using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting (SAT). We will gain knowledge on the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, and how to describe these wines with confidence. We will cover the principal grape varieties and different regions or geographical indications (GI’s) in which they are grown, and the key labeling terms used to indicate origin, style, and quality. We will learn about the environmental factors, grape growing, production options for these different regions and the styles of wine they produce. The principles of food and wine pairing and how to properly store and serve wine. 

Your Tuition includes the WSET Level 2 Study Guide, enrollment fee, all wines, food, printed materials, exam fee, certificate, and lapel pin (if you pass the examination).

Class Format

Offered in different formats potentially as a three-day intensive course OR a 8 consecutive week evening course, OR another suitable format amounting to 17 hours of guided . The format of the course will be outlined in the registration. At this time this course is offered only in-person.

This course requires study with an extra 11 hours of at home self-study and revision.

Assessment

Assessment is by a closed-book exam of 50 multiple-choice questions over 60 minutes. A total mark of 55% is required to achieve a pass. All students who pass will be issued with a certificate and will receive a lapel pin. The examination will be taken at the end of the last teaching session.

Resit Examination Information

If the candidate fails their exam they have the opportunity to re-sit at a future date. Re-sit examination fee is $150, the missed exam fee $25.

Entry Requirements

You must be at least 21 years of age or older to attend the course and to participate in any alcohol tasting at the time of enrollment.

Registration closes 14 days before the exam.

Refunds/Changes

If you need to cancel or change the date of the course for any reason you must do so 14 working days before the course starts, and we will charge a $25 administrative fee. Making changes to your reservation within 13 business days of the start date will result in an administrative change fee of 50% of the cost of the course. No refunds are given for changes made within 3 business days of the start of the course. Reorder fees will apply.
Upcoming Classes -

New class! There will be three consecutive Tuesday classes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting on February 18th, February 25th, and March 4th. The exam will be held on the last day of class (March 4th).
